Gov Nwifuri Crowns His Father With 30 Wives & 108 Children As A King

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has crowned and presented a certificate and staff of office to his father, Chief Ezekiel Nwifuru Nwankpu, as the traditional ruler of Oferekpe Agbaja Autonomous Community in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Didactic Information Hut reports that Chief Ezeogo Nwankpu, popularly known for his large household, is said to have married 30 wives, (although some who were unable to bear children eventually left) and lives with 17 wives with whom He has fathered 108 children including Gov Nwifuri, who is from his fourth wife.

Among his many children, only 25 are reported to have graduated from higher institutions.

The newly crowned king is to serve as the Head of over 17 villages after being decorated as the Chibugo 1 of Oferekpe Agbaja Autonomous Community caved out from Agbaja community in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The Governor while speaking at the occasion said that his father’s emergence was done in line with the law establishing Ebonyi State Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Cap 146.

He described his father as a hard-working man, who was once humiliated by his relatives, neighbourhoods, and the entire community because He was excelling above his equals due to his booming farming business.

Gov Nwifuri added that it was based on his villagers’ maltreatment and intimidation that isolated his father, leading Him into marrying many wives for companionship and as helping hands in pursuit of his dreams as a rich farmer.

He further described his father as a hospitable man, who greatly loves his wives, children, relatives, and neighbours.

“My father is a loving father and husband, who take care of all his children and wives.

“All his wives and children work hard to train themselves in school and that is why we have 25 graduates in my family who struggled to train themselves with the efforts of their mothers,” Gov Nwifuri said.

The governor who advised his father as he ascends the royal stool, to be generous with his subjects, also called on Him to ensure peace and unity in the community.

He further urged Him to be just in discharging his duties as the King and should not be vindictive, but to reign in God’s direction and motivation.

Didactic Information Hut reports that dignitaries at the event included the Chairman who is a former Minister of Power, Chief Godwin Ogbaga, former governors of the state, Dr. Sam Egwu, Chief Martin Elechi and Senator David Umahi.

Others were the three senators and six House of Reps Members from the state at National Assembly, state executive council members, local government chairmen, coordinators and other government appointees, among others.

Meanwhile, the coronation has attracted mixed reactions from Nigerians.
