Woman Rescued From Suspected Ritualist in Abuja

The Federal Capital Police Command rescued a young woman from a suspected armed robber cum ritualist. The command has also launched a manhunt for the suspect.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adefu.

According to the statement, the incident occurred at a hotel in the Wuse area of Abuja, where 25-year-old Promise Eze, a native of Ebonyi State, was found tied to a small chair and her mouth covered with a bandage.

On January 31, 2025, when officers arrived at the scene after a call from a hotel employee, she was unconscious and in distress. She was unconscious and in distress. The victim was transported to Wuse District Hospital where she regained consciousness.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had checked into a hotel on January 30 with a man identified as Emmanuel Okoro from Lagos State. She, however, later disclosed that she met the suspect online, who used the alias Michael Prince and claimed to be an oil company employee from Delta State.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command successfully rescued the young woman from the clutches of the armed robbery cum ritualist suspect and immediately commenced a search for the fleeing suspect.

On January 31, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a hotel in the Wuse area of the FCT reported suspicious activity in one of its rooms. ‘Quickly responding police officers arrived on the scene and found Promise Eze, a 25-year-old woman from Ebonyi State, tied to a small chair with her mouth covered with a bandage. She was unconscious and in pain. Officers quickly released her and transported her to Wuse District Hospital, where she was revived. Preliminary investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of deception and violence.

The victim had checked into a hotel one day earlier, on January 30, 2025, at about 7 a.m., with a man identified as Emmanuel Okoro, from Lagos State.

During police interrogation, however, the victim revealed that she met the suspect online, where he introduced himself as an oil company employee from Delta State under the alias Michael Prince. Initially, he invited her to Delta, but after she refused, they decided to meet in Abuja. Tragically, what was supposed to be an innocent encounter turned into a harrowing ordeal.”

The suspect allegedly brandished a dagger and used it to threaten and subdue the victim, then bound her hands and feet in the bathroom and taped her mouth shut.

He then stole two of the victim’s cell phones and fled.

Remarkably, before he fled, the victim overheard him talking on the phone with an alleged accomplice, telling him that he was in the process of regrouping before returning to his hotel to “finish the job.”

Recognizing the seriousness of this heinous act, the FCT Police Command has launched a full-scale manhunt for the suspect and is working vigorously to ensure his immediate arrest.

The CP strongly condemns this act of violence and urges residents, especially young women, to exercise caution when meeting with persons they do not know personally.

The CP reassures the public that the FCT Police Command is unwavering in its commitment to the safety and security of all residents.”
