We Need Presidential Directive To Protect Us – Miyetti Allah

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has called for a presidential directive to security agencies to enhance the safety of pastoralist communities nationwide.
Bello Gotomo, the National Secretary-General of MACBAN, made this request in a statement released on Thursday.
He further urged the Federal Government to eliminate all forms of alleged discrimination against pastoralists throughout the country.
Gotomo highlighted the necessity for the National Security Adviser’s office to implement effective strategies to combat the alleged ethnic profiling, stigmatization, and scapegoating of pastoralists.
“The Nigerian government must guarantee accountability, justice, and protection for all citizens, irrespective of their ethnic background.”
MACBAN is appealing to President Bola Tinubu to issue a directive to all security agencies to ensure adequate protection for pastoralist communities and to put an end to discriminatory practices.
Gotomo condemned the reported unlawful arrests, mistreatment, and profiling of certain herdsmen at Opere Market in Kabba LGA.
“The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria urges the federal government, the National Human Rights Commission, and the international community to take immediate action,” the statement read.
Herdsmen have faced accusations of engaging in violence and kidnapping, as well as damaging farmlands in Ondo and other states.
