President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will leave Abuja today to participate in the 2025 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW2025) in the United Arab Emirates.

The annual summit, which runs from January 12-18, was initiated by United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to promote a global discussion on sustainability.

According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, special advisor to the president, the summit will bring together world leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to accelerate sustainable development and chart new paths for socioeconomic progress.

It will also allow policymakers, business and civil society leaders to explore pathways to accelerate the transition to a sustainable economy and develop a new era of prosperity for all, Onanuga said.

A testament to the power of collaboration, ADSW has been held annually for more than 15 years and provides a global platform to foster multi-stakeholder collaboration to address global challenges and accelerate growth. High-value agreements and strategic partnerships have emerged among governments, industry leaders, and clean energy pioneers around the world, driving high-impact alliances and advancing the global sustainability agenda.”

According to Onanuga, President Tinubu will use the event to showcase the Tinubu administration’s reforms on energy sufficiency, transportation, public health, and economic development.

The President will also meet with UAE leaders to discuss bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.

President Tinubu will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Yusuf Tugal and other senior government officials. The President is scheduled to return to Nigeria on April 16.
