Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, won the Best African Music Performance category at the 2025 Grammy Awards and its 67th Grammy Awards.
She beat out Yemi Alade’s “Tomorrow,” Asake’s “MMS” featuring Wizkid, Chris Brown’s “Sensational” featuring Davido and Lojay, and Bruna Boy’s “Higher” for her song “Love Me JeJe” to win the award.
This is Tems’ second Grammy Award. The first in the same category was won by South Africa’s Tyra for her hit song “Water in 2024. Tems was nominated for three Grammy Awards this year, bringing her career total to eight.
She was also nominated for Best Global Music Album (Born in the Wild) and Best R&B Song (Burning).
