Telecom Operators Refuse To Extend Deadline For Sim-NIN Linkage
Telecom Operators in Nigeria have refused to grant subscribers an extension to the National Identification Number -Subscriber Identity Module linkage deadline. This refusal poses a disconnection risk to the phone lines of over 65million Nigerians.
Didactic Information Hut recalls that the final deadline expired on September 14, 2024, and the telecom regulator, Nigeria Communications Commission expects that no SIM card would remain active without a verified NIN from September 15.
Meanwhile, the National Association of Telecoms Subscribers has urged the NCC to extend the deadline to September 22 and allow customer experience centres to operate over the weekend.
