Student Who Assaulted UNIZIK Lecturer Gets Expelled

The administration of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) popularly known as UNIZIK has taken the decision to expel a student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, following an incident in which she assaulted a lecturer from the Department of Theatre and Film Studies.

This information was conveyed in a statement issued on Friday by the Acting Registrar, Victor Modebelu.

Modebelu indicated that the Acting Vice-Chancellor had received a report from the Student Disciplinary Committee regarding the assault on the lecturer.

He noted that the decision was made in accordance with the recommendation of the Student Disciplinary Committee, which determined that the student’s conduct constituted a serious breach of the university’s disciplinary regulations, specifically Regulation 4 (SDR).

“The Acting Vice-Chancellor has received the report from the Student Disciplinary Committee concerning your assault on a lecturer from the Department of Theatre and Film Studies, which has been classified as gross misconduct and a violation of the Students Disciplinary Regulations, particularly Regulation 4 (SDR),” the statement stated.

“Therefore, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the University Senate, has endorsed the Committee’s recommendation for your expulsion, and you are hereby expelled from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. This expulsion is effective immediately.

“You are required to vacate the University premises without delay and return any property belonging to the University that is in your possession.”

The incident attracted significant attention after a video of the altercation was shared online, reportedly involving Precious attacking the lecturer, Dr. Chukwudi Okoye.
