Samuel Anyanwu Sacked By Appeal Court As PDP National Secretary
Senator Samuel Anyanwu has been sacked by the Appeal Court from the office of the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Didactic Information Hut recalls that the South East Zonal Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in October 2023, had unanimously adopted Sunday Kelly Enemchukwu Udeh-Okoye, a former National Youth Leader of the Party as its choice replacement for Senator Anyanwu, who was then a Gubernatorial Candidate of the Party in the November 11 Imo Governorship race.
But, in November 2023, the PDP National Working Committee rejected Ude-Okoye’s nomination despite a subsisting Enugu High Court order, insisting that the Office of National Secretary was never vacant and thus a “family affair that can be amicably resolved.”
Consequently, an Abuja Federal High Court on 9th January 2024, affirmed Anyanwu as substantive National Secretary, an order that has kept him in office till his eventual removal today.
Senator Anyanwu is an ally of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. Some Political Analysts have seen the sack of Anyanwu as a gradual reduction of the overbearing influence of Wike, a former Rivers State Governor on the affairs of the main opposition party despite working for the ruling APC.
