Prof Jega Gets Presidential Appointment From Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega, the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as Special Adviser and Coordinator of the Presidential Livestock Reform.
A statement from Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, indicated that the President made this announcement on Friday, with the aim of fostering significant advancements in the livestock sector and enhancing national development initiatives.
Professor Jega, who previously served as the vice chancellor of Bayero University, co-chaired the Presidential Livestock Committee alongside President Tinubu. This committee provided extensive recommendations that highlighted the need for sustainable reforms in the livestock industry, including the establishment of a dedicated Livestock Ministry, which now has an appointed minister.
At 68 years old, Jega is also a member of the International Elections Advisory Council and serves as the pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education in Kano State. He held the position of INEC chairman from 2010 to 2015.
Onanuga emphasized that Jega’s role as special adviser to President Tinubu will bolster the achievements of the presidential committee and maintain the ongoing momentum of the reforms already initiated.
