Police Secures A Court Order To Arrest Reno Omokri Over Defamation

The Nigerian police have launched a search for Reno Omokri over the alleged defamation of Dunamis Church Pastor, Paul Enenche after receiving a detention order. As such, the police are looking for Reno Omokri, then Special Assistant to then President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, to be detained in prison as well as Pastor Abraham Daniel and the Enenche brothers.

The Nigeria Police Force is seeking to detain social media influencer Reno Omokri, a former pastor of the Dunamis Church, Abraham Daniel, along with two others, Enenche Enenche and Alexander Enenche, at Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, in prison custody. The order was received from the Chief Magistrate Court of the Federal Capital Territory.

The police are therefore looking for Reno Omokri to be remanded in prison as well as Pastor Abraham Daniel and the Enenche brothers.

The court, presided over by Chief Emmanuel A. Ianna, issued the writ of detention on January 13, 2025, upon an ex parte motion filed by Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun. Petition No. ME/07/2025, filed by Attorney Francis Gabriel on behalf of the Chief of Police, Mr. Daniel Abraham, Mr. Enenche Idoga Alexander, and Mr. Oboyinro Enenche Peter as the Inspector General of Police as applicant and 1st to 4th Respondents, Mr. Reno Omokri, and the Chief Magistrate granted the ex parte motion and directed the police to produce the Respondents at the January 30 court date.

Iyanna stated: “After hearing the application and submissions of Attorney FRANCIS GABRIEL, ESQ, and after careful consideration of the arguments, objections and contentions raised in the applicant’s submissions, this application is granted as prayed for. This application is hereby granted as prayed for. ORDERED as follows: that the Respondents (i) MR. DANIEL ABRAHAM (ii) MR. ENENCHE IDOGA ALEXANDER (iii) OBOYINLO ENENCHE PETER and (iv) MR. RENO OMOKRI be remanded to the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service pending investigation, arrest/ pending investigation, arrest/prosecution. ‘The Respondents are ordered to be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction upon completion of the investigation.

The Respondents are ordered to appear before a competent court upon their return. The case is adjourned to January 30, 2025. The warrant of detention was filed by Patrick O. Okoro SAN against Mr. Reno Omokri, Gistlover Blog, Aunty Adul, Peter Obonilo, Kelechi TV, and their agents and co-conspirators with the Inspector General of Police for alleged defamation.
