Controversial Nollywood Actress Halima Abubakar has dragged the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, to Court over her recent suspension.
Didactic Information Hut recalls that the AGN had suspended Halima for spreading false dating news against Actors and other Nigerians.
But Halima who was offended by the action filed a suit against the AGN through her legal team, P.D. Pius & Associates.
Halima claimed that the statement from the AGN tarnished her reputation and she is therefore asking Mr.Rollas to take down the original Instagram post containing her alleged suspension, issue a public apology, and pay the sum of three billion naira for the damage done to her reputation.
The legal Team accused Rollas of using Halima’s vulnerable state to further a negative narrative, claiming it was an attempt to “stir up social opprobrium” against her. The letter stated, “Rather than show concern for our client’s fundamental rights to fair hearing and privacy, you chose this delicate moment to push your false narrative.”
“Your false publication has damaged the reputation of our client and continues to do so with each passing minute,” the letter asserts, pointing to the wide reach of Rollas’ initial statement across various media platforms.
Halima’s legal team also issued a seven day ultimatum for compliance or else further legal action will be taken.
