Nenadi Usman Dares Abure To Expose Her, Otti And Obi

The Chairperson of the Caretaker Committee for the Labour Party (LP), Nenadi Usman, has challenged Julius Abure regarding his threats to reveal information about Peter Obi, Alex Otti, and other prominent members of her faction.
Abure, who claims to be the National Chairman of a faction of the LP, had previously urged Obi and Otti to identify party members who supposedly received financial support for the 2023 elections. ‘I am awaiting their response, and should they take any further action, I will speak out,’ he stated. ‘When I do, they will be like rotten eggs, unwanted and unsellable.’
In response, Usman appeared on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, where she dismissed Abure’s threats and urged him to present any evidence he claims to possess. She asserted that the LP has documentation of Abure’s behavior, some of which are currently under police investigation.
‘I challenge him to expose us. If he has anyone to reveal, he should do so rather than merely talk about it,’ she remarked. ‘We have substantial information regarding him, which is why those affected have approached the police. Investigations are underway, and soon, there will be updates.’
The former Finance Minister characterized the ongoing turmoil within the LP as an assault on internal democracy. ‘It is widely acknowledged that a robust opposition is essential for any democracy. When the opposition seeks to integrate into the ruling party, it signals a significant issue, which is our current predicament,’ she explained.
Usman asserted that Abure’s term as LP national chairman has expired, and the party is actively working to address the leadership void in accordance with the directives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). ‘The Labour Party leadership encountered challenges with INEC because Abure and his National Working Committee (NWC) had completed their tenure. This was evident when INEC convened a meeting with political party leaders, and he was instructed to step aside with his NWC.’
Usman remembered that following the incident with INEC, Abure approached the court and obtained a ruling that mandated INEC to acknowledge him.
