NCAA Clears Max Air To Resume Operations After Suspension

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has granted approval for Max Air to recommence its domestic flight services following the successful completion of an economic and safety audit.
This information was shared by Michael Achimugu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, in an official statement.
On January 29, 2025, Max Air voluntarily halted its domestic operations for a period of 90 days due to a series of incidents involving its flights, a decision that was positively received by the NCAA.
Achimugu indicated that during the suspension, the NCAA undertook a comprehensive safety and economic audit of the airline.
The safety audit, conducted from February 26 to 28, 2025, involved an extensive re-evaluation of Max Air’s organizational structure, operational procedures, personnel, and aircraft, in accordance with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023.
“Based on the audit findings, which affirm Max Air’s ability to maintain safe flight operations, the airline is set to resume domestic flights starting at midnight on March 17, 2025,” the statement noted.
Furthermore, the NCAA will maintain close oversight of Max Air through an enhanced surveillance program to ensure adherence to its regulations.
