Millions Worth of Goods Lost As Fire Razes Masaka Market In Nasarawa
A fire broke out at Masaka Market in Karu District, Nasarawa State, leaving many traders counting millions of naira in losses.
According to eyewitnesses, many traders were devastated by the fire, which broke out at about 10 pm on Friday night.
At the time of filing this report, parts of the market were still burning and there were no firefighters present to contain the blaze.
The last fire incident was in 2019.
Video from that time showed scavengers scouring the ruins for valuables and lamenting their losses. Market traders are calling for government intervention in the wake of their losses.
