A former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi says He can no longer afford to buy diesel due to its high cost. Amaechi stated this in a recent interview with Igbere Tv.

Amaechi, who served as two terms Transportation Minister under the Buhari administration blamed the situation on the lingering economic hardship in Nigeria. He lamented over the inactions of Nigerians as according to Him; he expected Nigerians to have stormed different streets and protest against the high cost of living in Nigeria. But he has not seen anything that shows that they are serious.

Amaechi said he is angry with the way Nigerians are responding to the current economic challenges.

“People should be angry because you cannot see a group of people stealing your money without doing anything. I am really angry with the citizens because they are not doing anything.

“Look at what happened in Edo State, should any politician be campaigning in Edo State? See, some of us cannot afford to buy diesel again because it’s costly,” he said.

Amaechi, who is a devout Catholic also said that He doesn’t want to miss heaven and that’s why he doesn’t give thugs money.

He said, “My priest once told me that if I should give thugs money and anyone dies because of that money, I will be held accountable and I won’t make heaven.”

“The society might not hold you accountable because you are a big man but God in heaven will hold you accountable and you won’t make heaven. That’s why I have never given thugs money because I want to make heaven”.
