I Am Willing To Become Second, Third, Fourth or Fifth Wife – Toke Makinwa
Nigerian media figure and actress Toke Makinwa has expressed that she has reached a stage in her life where her options for marriage are somewhat restricted. The 40-year-old indicated that she would contemplate being a second, third, fourth, or even fifth wife if the opportunity arose.
She made these remarks during the latest episode of her podcast, Toke Moments, which was shared on her YouTube channel.
Makinwa posed a question to her guest, Banke Kuku, asking, “As independent women, do you think we have romanticized the idea of independence?”
Kuku responded, “Yes, it’s challenging.”
Makinwa elaborated, “I won’t sugarcoat it, Banke. Let me clarify. Forget the cameras.
“At this juncture in my life, if I were given the chance to be a second, third, fourth, or fifth wife, I would accept it.”
The actress emphasized her desire for a partner she can rely on at times.
She remarked, “The most significant aspect for me is that I am in charge everywhere, and that can be exhausting. You start to feel the need for someone to lean on, someone who can decide what’s for dinner. Does it always have to be me?”
Toke Makinwa was previously married to businessman Maje Ayida. They wed in 2014, but their marriage ended in 2017.
In November 2024, there were rumors that she had married her rumored long-term partner, Farouk Umar, but the actress refuted these claims, stating that they are merely “besties” and that the supposed wedding was actually her Thanksgiving celebration.
