Hon. Ojezele Osezua Sunday of PDP Defects To APC
Hon. Ojezele Osezua Sunday, the member representing Esan South-East Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, on Monday dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hon Sunday who described his return to the party as a homecoming, was received into the APC at the party’s State Secretariat in Benin City, Edo State.
He recalled how he had defected to the PDP in 2019 alongside the former governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
The lawmaker added that he joined the ruling APC because of what he called irreconcilable differences in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“I am indebted to the APC, and that is what I am here today to pay my debt by returning to the APC.
“In the year 2019, I was in the APC, but joined the PDP when I had to due to irreconcilable differences.
“But today, with the issues rocking the PDP, I am back to the APC to pay my debt I owe the party since it was the APC’s platform that I got my mandate as a lawmaker in the House of Assembly,” Sunday said.
Acting chairman of the APC in Edo State, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, who welcomed the lawmaker to the APC, described the lawmaker as an asset to the party.
Tenebe added that the lawmaker’s defection to the APC was long overdue following the defeat the PDP suffered in the September 21st Edo Governorship election.
Didactic Information Hut reports that the 24-member Edo State House of Assembly now has 13 PDP lawmakers, 10 APC lawmakers and 1 Labour Party lawmaker.
Political Obervers have hinted that more opposition lawmakers may defect to the ruling party in days ahead.
