Hon. Fom Dalyop Cholom of Labour Party Defects To APC
A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Fom Dalyop Cholom, who represents Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency of Plateau State, has defected to All Progressives Congress, APC.
Hon Cholom’s defections follows the recent defection of four House of Reps Members from the Labour Party to the APC on the floor of the House.
During Tuesday’s plenary, Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, read Chollom’s letter of resignation from the LP.
Hon. Chollom explained his decision by pointing to the political turmoil in LP and the need for improved representation of his people.
However, George Ozodinobi, the leader of the LP caucus in the Green Chamber, and Kingsley Chinda, the House’s Minority Leader, both took issue with his justification for leaving the party.
Due to violations of the Nigerian Constitution, they requested that his seat be declared vacant.
Speaker Abbas declared both of them out of order in spite of their protests. He maintained that Cholom followed the law when he defected to the APC.
Simon Lalong, a former state governor, and other APC members who were present at the House of Representatives welcomed the Plateau lawmaker into the party.
