Veteran Nollywood actress and politician Hilda Dokubo has accused Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, of attempting to seize control of the economic resources of Rivers State.

Dokubo made this statement in response to the recent declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, along with the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy for a period of six months.

According to Didactic Information Hut, the President announced the state of emergency and the suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy, and members of the House of Assembly for six months.

In his address to the nation on March 18, 2025, Tinubu explained that his decision was made “after evaluating the political crisis in the state,” a move that has sparked a range of reactions throughout the country.

In her Instagram post, Dokubo condemned the President’s actions as disgraceful, suggesting that he should openly acknowledge his intentions to annex Rivers State.

“State of emergency declared after two years of peace!

State of emergency to capture the economic heart of Rivers State!

State of emergency for the sake of one individual?

Disgraceful! Perhaps Mr. President should just admit he wants to annex Rivers State.”

She further suggested that George Orwell’s “Animal Farm” should be distributed to every citizen of Rivers State as a form of relief, adding, “In the meantime, someone should remind Mr. Jones to control his pigs.”
