Founder of Diamond Bank, Pascal Dozie, Is Dead
Pascal Dozie, the founder of the now-defunct Diamond Bank Plc and a former chairman of MTN Nigeria, has passed away.
A statement released by his family on Tuesday confirmed that the prominent businessman died in the early hours of the day at the age of 85.
In the statement, his son, Uzoma Dozie, who spoke on behalf of the family, expressed, “It is with profound sadness, yet with gratitude to God for a life well-lived, that we announce the death of our cherished father, Pascal Gabriel Dozie, on April 8, 2025.
“He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and a man of steadfast Catholic faith. His life was characterized by his commitment to God, his family, and his nation.
“He is survived by his devoted wife, Chinyere, his children, grandchildren, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
“We are thankful to God for the blessing of his life and the enduring legacy he leaves. May his soul find eternal peace.”
Born on April 9, 1939, in Egbu, Owerri, Imo State, Dozie grew up in a Catholic household, with his father, Charles Dozie, serving as a catechist.
