Former Speaker, Dimeji Bankole Mourns As Mother Dies
Alhaja Monsurat Atinuke Bankole, who is the mother of a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole, is dead.
Her death was announced by the Consultant to the Ogun State Governor on Islamic Affairs, Sheik Iskeel Lawal Sugar, in a statement, announced the death.
The statement described Alhaja Monsurat as a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dedicated her life to serving Islam and her community.
Alhaja Bankole reportedly died on Friday, a few days after the demise of the popular socialite and business entrepreneur, Madam Titilola Edionseri, popularly called Cash Madam.
Until her death, Alhaja Bankole was the Iya Adinni of Egbaland and was known for her unwavering commitment to the growth and unity of the Muslim community.
She died after a brief illness at age 78 years.
She has been buried in accordance with Islamic rites immediately after Solatul-Asr prayers on Friday at her late husband’s residence in Onikolobo, Abeokuta.
