Fake Medicines Worth Over N300m Seized By NAFDAC In Lagos
During a raid at Tyre Village, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State, the National Drug Investigation & Enforcement team of NAFDAC discovered a cache of fake medicines. Fake medications, such as 500 mg of Amoxicillin, 500 mg of Ampiclox capsules, and packaging materials for 625 mg Augmentin capsules, were seized as a result of the operation. All illegal products have been removed, and the facility has been placed on HOLD.
According to an agency statement, these fake medications, which are thought to be worth over N300 million, present serious health risks, such as treatment failure, organ damage, and possible cancerous effects because of their unidentified ingredients. Additional investigations are being conducted, and the suspect has been invited to be questioned.
