The Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru, has ordered that  all church activities inside residential buildings within the Emirates be banned.

Didactic Information Hut gathered that the Emir reportedly took the decision following several petitions from concerned residents, after he has set up a special investigative committee.

The committee confirmed that a church in Yadi Quarters, Rano town, was conducting services in a residential house without following proper legal procedures.

There are over 27 churches in Rano Emirate.

But, unauthorized worship in residential buildings sparked discontent among locals, which led to formal complaints which the Emir acted on.

According to the Emir, the move is to prevent any potential breach of peace.

The Secretary of the committee, Alhaji Umar Isa Sarki, revealed that multiple petitions raised concerns over the legality of the services being held in private homes.

Meanwhile, the Kano chapter chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) was yet to react to the order.
