Don’t Intimidate Igbos, We Can Defend Ourselves, IPOB Tells Nigeria Police

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has reaffirmed that the Igbo community will take measures to protect themselves from assaults by herdsmen in the Southeast region.
This declaration was made in a statement that criticized the summoning of certain leaders from the Bende Local Government Area in Abia State, who were called in connection with allegations regarding the killing of a Fulani herder.
Emma Powerful, the spokesperson for the group, who authored the statement, urged the Abia State Police Commissioner to cease the intimidation of the Igbo people.
He stated, “The global community and the movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra have been alerted to the summoning of leaders from Bende Local Government in Abia State by the Abia State Police Commissioner based on unfounded accusations regarding the murder of a Fulani herdsman in their locality.
“The IPOB intelligence unit has verified that the Abia State Police Commissioner and his team of inept and unprofessional officers have summoned the leaders of Nkpa Community for their efforts to protect their community from the violent Fulani herdsmen who have been committing acts of rape and kidnapping.
The group further claimed, “The Fulani herdsmen have communicated with their associates in the Nigeria Police, alleging that the community killed one of their members. This accusation appears to be a pretext for an impending invasion of the community. Such false claims are tactics employed by the notorious Nigeria Police to intimidate the Nkpa Community for thwarting the plans of these terrorists. The police commissioner, who is sympathetic to the terrorists, should refrain from intimidating our people, as this would leave their communities exposed to attacks and violence. The Eastern Security Network (ESN) does not require the community’s consent to defend our territory against Fulani terrorists.
“IPOB worldwide wishes to inform the Abia Police Commissioner and the federal government, which appears to support these terrorists, that IPOB will not permit their attempts to intimidate the Igbo people into refraining from defending themselves against the aggressive Fulani herdsmen. The right to self-defense is an inherent right of every individual.”
