Despite Persistent National Grid Collapses, Nigeria Supplies 24 Hours Electricity To 3 Countries
Despite epileptic power supply amidst frequent national grid collapses, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that Nigeria provides 24-hour power supply to neighboring countries such as Niger, Togo, and the Republic of Benin.
It also said that despite the fact that Nigeria does not boast a stable supply of electricity, power supply is stable in these countries.
Appearing on Channels Television’s “Sunday Politics” program, TCN CEO, Sule Abdulaziz said that Nigerians now know that power supply is improving.
“We suply power to Togo, Benin and Niger. We supply them power consistently. They get power from Nigeria on 24-hour basis and they’re paying.
“Nigerians are getting 24-hour electricity supply. Not everybody. Those people in Band A. You’ll see that they get 20-22 hours.
“Some Nigerians are getting 24 hours. Every distribution company has Band A and that is their priority.”
Didactic Information Hut reports that Nigeria currently generates, transmits and distributes megawatts (MW) of electric power that is greatly lower than what is needed to meet basic household and industrial needs of the country.
