Chelsea Signs Dario Essugo For €22m, Quenda May Be The Next

Chelsea has reportedly finalized the acquisition of Portuguese midfielder Dario Essugo from Sporting CP for a fee of €22 million.
As stated by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Saturday via X, the 20-year-old has successfully completed his medical examination and is set to officially join the Blues this summer as a member of the first-team roster.
Essugo is expected to sign a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge, which aligns with Chelsea’s long-term strategic vision under their current project.
In addition, fellow Sporting player Geovany Quenda is also slated to transfer to Chelsea in 2026, following an agreement for a transfer fee of €48 million.
Romano commented, “Dario Essugo to Chelsea, here we go! Agreement done with Sporting and medical completed.
“€22m transfer fee for the 20-year-old midfielder to join #CFC THIS summer and be part of the first team. Essugo will sign a 7-year deal.
“Quenda joins in 2026 for €48m fee.”
