The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Amb Chijioke Ihunwo has removed the name of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike from the administration block of the council and renamed it after Senator Dr. Obi Wali.
Didactic Information Hut recalls that following the recent attacks on council secretariats believed to have been actioned by supporters of the FCT Minister, Amb Ihunwo, who is the newly elected Council Chairman had threatened to remove Wike’s name from the Council Secretariat.
Announcing the fulfilment of His threat, Amb Ihunwo in a post on his X account wrote;
“We have changed Wike’s name in the admin block of Obio/Akpor Council and replaced it with the name of SENATOR DR. OBI WALI.”
This move signifies a shift in the recognition of individuals who have contributed to the region’s development, with Senator Dr. Obi Wali now being honored for his legacy”.

Obi Wali was a well-respected Leader of the Ikwerre ethnic nationality who lived between 27 February 1932 – 26 April 1993. He was a minority rights activist, politician, distinguished senator, literary scholar, and an orator. He hailed from Obio/Akpor, the same LGA with the FCT Minister.
