It is the turn of the people of Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria, to pass through the ordeal of a governorship election in the country. The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, the body empowered to organize elections in Nigeria has since scheduled Saturday, November 16, 2024 as voting day for the contest. Indeed, as far back as May 25, 2024, INEC had published particulars of nominated candidates from 17 political parties.
When I was young, there were many cases of witchcraft. Old, withering women who had confessed to being witches and claimed to have carried out grave, horrific acts such as killing their own children and husbands, or causing similar tragedies within the community. The witches were mostly old, wrinkled and miserable women.

Nigeria’s fitful attempts to clean up its politics continue to suffer seismic setbacks in Rivers State where bitter politics of succession is combined with the desperation of politicians to pollute the environment.
Nigerians believe strongly in the power of magic and juju. Christianity and Islam could not eliminate or even dilute it. That belief was simply transferred to Christianity and Islam and continued under a new platform.
