Bandits Kill Police Escort, Kidnap Former Rep Member in Nasarawa
On his way to Jos yesterday evening, Hon. Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu, a former member of the House of Representatives, was kidnapped by suspected bandits.
Around 6:00 p.m., the attack happened between Gwantu in Sanga Local Government Area, Kaduna State, and Nunku in Akwanga Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
When Dr. Kigbu’s police escort tried to thwart the kidnapping, the attackers shot and killed him in a gunfight. Drivers in the vicinity were alarmed by the bandits’ intermittent firing, according to witnesses.
The region’s ongoing security issues are highlighted by Dr. Kigbu’s kidnapping and the police escort’s death.
