APC Wins All Chairmanship, Councillorship Seats In Kaduna LG Poll

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 23 chairmanship and 255 councillorship positions in the local government elections held on Saturday across Kaduna State.

Hajara Mohammed, the chairperson of the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM), who announced the results, noted that eight political parties participated in the elections.

Didactic Information Hut reports that these results are different from that of the local council elections conducted under former Governor, Nasir Elrufai where some opposition parties won some seats.

But Governor Uba Sani in his reaction expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the elections, stating that the process was largely free and fair with only minor issues reported in a few polling units.

He further praised the voters for turning out across the 23 local government areas to cast their votes.

Also, the Inter-party Advisory Council (IPAC) Kaduna chapter commended the election process describing it as peaceful and transparent, despite some delays in the delivery of voting materials in certain areas.

Meanwhile the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has rejected the outcome of the election, describing it as a sham.
