APC Postpones Congresses in Rivers State Indefinitely
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has announced the postponement of the 2024 elective congresses scheduled to take place in Rivers State from October 26.
This was announced by the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Felix Morka, in a statement issued in Abuja, titled “APC Rivers State chapter congresses postponed.”
Morka, didn’t state the new dates the reschedule congresses would take place.
He said, “The All Progressives Congress, Rivers State chapter’s elective congresses earlier scheduled for 26th October 2024 (ward congress), 2nd November 2024 (LGA congress) and 9th November 2024 (state congress) have been postponed.
“New dates for the congresses will be announced in due course.”
Didactic Information Hut recalls that this postponement is coming three weeks after the APC released the official schedule of activities and timetable for the elective congresses.
According to the previous schedule, aspirants for the chairmanship and vice chairmanship positions were to pick up the nomination and expression of interest forms for N3m and N2.5m, respectively.
In the category of local government chairmanship, the form was to be sold for N100,000.
It’s unclear whether the postponement is related to the recent court judgement which reinstated Emeka Beke as the Chairman of the Party in Rivers State.
But the Ganduje-led NWC had continued to recognize Chief Tony Okocha as the CTC Chairman of the Party in Rivers State.
