15 Years Old Boy ‘Stabbed 50 Times’, Burned Alive In France
According to prosecutors in Marseille, southern France, a 15-year-old boy was “stabbed 50 times” and burned alive earlier this week.
At a press conference on Sunday, Marseille prosecutor, Nicolas Bessone said the teenager was murdered on Wednesday, describing the incident as one of “unprecedented brutality.”
Marseille is France’s second largest city, but also one of its poorest, and has been plagued in recent years by drug-related violence that has been described in the French media as “drug killings.
The city has recently been the scene of a turf war between various clans, including the DZ mafia, for control of the lucrative drug market.
According to Bessone, the murdered teenager was hired by a 23-year-old prisoner to set fire to his door to intimidate his peers and was promised €2,000 ($2,200).
The L’Yonne Republicaine newspaper revealed that the mastermind was an inmate at the Aix-Luine prison near Aix-en-Provence and a member of the DZ mafia.
