An Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Officer identified as Halisu Sahabi, who was killed by a suspected internet fraudster, commonly referred to as Yahoo Boy, have been buried according to islamic rites in Sokoto State.
Didactic Information Hut reports that the deceased who was an Assistant Superintendent was killed on Friday morning when EFCC operatives from the Enugu zonal headquarters attempted to apprehend a group of cybercrime suspects. Another Staff of the Commission was also critically injured in the attack which took place in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Sahabi, who had recently completed a promotional examination, lost his life during the operation.
The spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the sad incident said that an investigation was underway.
“Investigation into the sad incident is ongoing. The suspect is in custody, and the firearm has been recovered. Further details shall be communicated, please,” Ikenga said.
