The Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike has blamed the Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the lingering political crises in the State which is degenerating into anarchy because of his refusal to obey court judgments.

Wike, who is a former governor of Rivers State said this on Tuesday when he was featured as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

“No person who believes in peace and stability of any nation will say he supports violence, will say he wants to support destruction, will say he doesn’t want people to live in harmony.

“But what’s important is that when there’s violence, when there’s instability, it’s for you to ask questions: what has led to the violence, what has led to the instability, what has led to destruction?

“I was a governor and I have always obeyed the rule of law. You heard the governor say the state is turning into anarchy. You must respect the rule of law, the judgement of the court. It doesn’t matter how you see that judgement. The moment you don’t obey judgement, you’re inviting anarchy and violence.

“A governor came out on national television and said he won’t obey court judgement. He went as far as to say he doesn’t need police and protection of lives and property.

“When someone says he doesn’t need police and protection of lives and property, he’s inviting anarchy. The governor is the architect of the violence,” Wike said.

Didactic Information Hut recalls that Gov Fubara had ignored the judgment for the Federal High Court in Abuja against the conduct of local government election in Rivers State and went ahead with the local polls citing a Rivers State High Court order which permitted the exercise. However, this angered Chief Wike and resulted in violent protests by his supporters who allegedly burnt many local government secretariats across the State.

Chief Wike also accused Gov Fubara of sponsoring the APP in last Saturday’s local government elections, an act He took for anti-party and also condemned those who have insisted that He (Wike) should be disciplined for supporting and working as a Minister in the APC led Federal Government.

“Today, people say ‘Discipline Wike, he did anti-party’. I did not do anti-party; I said we must stand for equity, fairness, and justice’,” he said while referencing his support of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 election.

“Today, what happened? The governor [Fubara] is the one who sponsored the APP. The chairman of the [PDP] governors’ forum was the one who attended the swearing-in”.

Meanwhile, Gov Fubara on Tuesday has set up a 7-member panel of enquiry to investigate the post election violence witnessed in the State on Monday.

Didactic Information Hut reports that the Panel is headed by Hon. Justice I.R Minakiri.
