Gunmen have assaulted the family residence of Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, located in Obeiba-Ihima, Kogi State.
A statement released on Thursday by the senator’s team indicated that the assailants, mistakenly believing the Senator was present, vandalized windows at her grandfather’s home.
The statement highlighted that security forces acted quickly to repel the attackers.
The senator’s team has called upon the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to promptly restore her security detail, which was withdrawn following her suspension in March 2025 for alleged misconduct, a charge she has refuted.
“This deliberate attack seems to be a direct reaction to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s bold opposition to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she has accused of sexual harassment.
“We urge the Inspector General of Police to reinstate her security detail without delay,” the statement emphasized.

In addition, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan recounted her experience of the incident, stating, “Two days ago, my younger brother brought some contractors to my hometown in Ihima to assess sites for upcoming projects I have secured for my senatorial district. The unidentified gunmen mistakenly thought I was in town and attacked my family home that night.
“Fortunately, the civil defense team and local residents responded quickly and drove them away. A report was filed at the police area command, and thankfully, no one was injured.”
