PDP Candidate, Agboola Ajayi Files Suit At Tribunal Against Ondo Poll Results

Agboola Ajayi, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for the governorship of Ondo State on November 16, has petitioned the Ondo State Election Petition Tribunal, contesting the victory of All Progressives Congress Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
After receiving 366,781 votes, Aiyedatiwa defeated Ajayi, who received 117,845 votes, according to the independent National Electoral Commission.
In an interview with reporters at the Ondo State secretariat, Ajayi affirmed that his legal team had submitted the petition, asking the court for justice.
He did not, however, reveal the precise grounds of the petition.
The PDP candidate claimed vote buying and intimidation during the election and voiced his displeasure with the outcome, calling it a “miscarriage of democracy.”
He maintained that the election’s result did not represent the desires of the state’s citizens and voters.
Citing worries about the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, which he says has been manipulated, he urged the National Assembly to amend the Electoral Act.
He claimed that Ondo State should have leaders chosen by free and fair elections and expressed confidence that the tribunal would fairly decide the case.
This comes after Ajayi’s lawsuit contesting the qualifications of Aiyedatiwa and his deputy was dismissed by the Federal High Court in Akure due to procedural errors and lack of standing.
