Nicholas Ukachukwu Wins APC Primary Election in Anambra

Nicholas Ukachukwu has been selected as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the governorship election in Anambra State, scheduled for November 8, 2025.
The announcement was made by Senator Bassey Otu, Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee and Governor of Cross River State, following a primary election that concluded on Sunday, which resulted in a decisive win for Ukachukwu.
Ukachukwu received 1,455 votes, significantly outpacing his nearest competitor, Valentine Ozigbo, who garnered 67 votes. Other candidates included Johnbosco Onunkwo with 26 votes and Edozie Madu with eight votes, while there were 26 invalid votes cast during the primary that commenced on Saturday.
In his acceptance address, Ukachukwu expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for facilitating a smooth and transparent electoral process within the party.
He also acknowledged the contributions of the APC National Working Committee, Senator Otu and his team, his fellow candidates, and all delegates for their involvement in the successful primary election.
He stated, “I urge my fellow candidates to come together and support my candidacy. Our primary focus now is to secure Anambra for the APC.
“I have a deep-rooted influence in Anambra’s political landscape and have played a key role in the rise of various governors in the state over the years. While I have acted as a political mentor, I am now prepared to take on the role of a leader myself.”
Ukachukwu reassured party members and the citizens of Anambra of his steadfast dedication to their trust, promising not to let them down as he prepares to contest against the current administration led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
With this victory, Ukachukwu is poised to face off against Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the APGA and George Moughalu of the Labour Party.
