The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized a large quantity of opioids at the Port Harcourt port in Onne, Rivers State.

More than 13.2 million dangerous opioids, including Tramadol, Tramaking, Tamol-X, Royal Tapentadol, and Carisoprodol, were seized in a close, 100% joint inspection of three containers arriving from India on October 2 and 3.

NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi said in a statement on Sunday that in addition to these pills, authorities recovered 338,253 codeine-based cough syrups, estimating the total value of the seized drugs in circulation at a whopping 9.02 billion.

This important operation, conducted in cooperation with the Nigerian Customs Service and other port officials, is a significant victory in the fight against drug smuggling.

In his address, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa, Chairman and CEO of NDLEA, praised NDLEA officials for their efforts to combat drug abuse and trafficking.
