NDDC Supports Niger Delta Entrepreneurs With N10bn

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has allocated N10 billion to the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture (NDCCITMA) to initiate its entrepreneurship development program. The Commission clarified that this N10 billion is part of a larger commitment of N30 billion intended for investment in the chamber, emphasizing its dedication to enhancing commerce and trade within the region.
Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, made this announcement during the inauguration of the NDCCITMA board of directors in Port Harcourt on Friday. He stated, “At the launch of the sensitization program, I indicated that the Commission would invest N30 billion in the Enterprise Development scheme, which will be overseen by NDCCITMA to assist entrepreneurs at the NANO, Micro, and Small-scale levels.
“I am here to reaffirm that commitment. Today, we will fulfill that promise by disbursing N10 billion to the designated bank of NDCCITMA for the immediate launch of the entrepreneurship development program.” He expressed confidence in the Commission’s partnership with NDCCITMA to achieve its objectives.
“We anticipate a fruitful collaboration with NDCCITMA to foster economic growth in the states and the broader region. I would also like to extend my gratitude to all state representatives on the NDDC board for their unwavering support. It is encouraging that this initiative is taking place during your tenure on the NDDC board.
“NDCCITMA and the Commission will establish the operational framework for the program. The Commission has approved 5,000 businesses to commence this initiative,” Ogbuku added.
He stated, “We assure you that the NDDC is committed to fostering growth in commerce and trade within the region by encouraging widespread participation in the NDCCITMA activities.”
Ogbuku also instructed all contractors and vendors associated with the NDDC to complete their registration with the NDCCITMA by July 31, 2025.
“The commission advises all current and prospective vendors in the NDDC to register with the NDCCITMA, as this will enhance their chances for potential and ongoing engagement with the Commission.
From today until July 31, every contractor affiliated with the NDDC must ensure they are properly registered with the NDCCITMA.”
Earlier, the Board Chairman of the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture, Idaere Ogan, expressed the Chamber’s commitment to collaborating with the NDDC to realize its vision for the Niger Delta region.
Ogan remarked, “We are fully aligned with the NDDC’s vision to transform the Niger Delta into a region characterized by economic prosperity, social stability, ecological sustainability, and principled governance.
The NDCCITMA serves as a vital instrument in this transformation. Our mission is clear: to act as a catalyst for development across all sectors of the economy, from nano and micro enterprises to medium-sized businesses and large industries.
This platform will promote job creation, skills enhancement, innovation, export expansion, and productive collaborations.”
