Man United Massively Defeats Leicester City 3-0
Manchester United extended their unbeaten streak in open play to seven matches with a decisive win against a struggling Leicester City. Unfortunately for the Dutchman, he has not replicated that success at the King Power Stadium. Leicester has suffered 13 losses in their last 14 league matches, leaving them nine points adrift of safety. Bruno Fernandes capped off United’s victory with a spectacular strike from the edge of the penalty area, marking his seventh goal in as many games. Meanwhile, Tottenham managed to keep their season alive by advancing to the Europa League quarter-finals with a win over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday. However, they experienced yet another European hangover, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Fulham. Ange Postecoglou’s squad has only secured three victories in the ten league matches following midweek European fixtures.
“It’s been a challenging season for sure,” remarked Spurs captain Son Heung-min. “But I believe we’ve dropped too many points in games we should have capitalized on, and this was one of those matches.” Fulham’s victory elevates Marco Silva’s team into contention for Champions League spots, as they rise to eighth place, just four points behind the top four and three points outside the top five. A top-five finish is likely to guarantee a spot in next season’s prestigious European competition, given the strong performances of English teams in continental tournaments.
