Fire Outbreak At Lagos Lounge Claims Four Workers’ Lives

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of four employees in a fire accident that broke out on Sunday at a lounge and bar on Baale Street in the Olodi-Apapa area.

The police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to reporters in Lagos on Monday.

Hundeyin said that at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, the Tolu divisional police station received a distress call that a fire had destroyed the lounge and bar.

“Based on the report, teams of policemen and firefighters were swiftly mobilised to the scene and the fire was successfully put out as a result of the efforts of all the teams.

“Four of the company’s staff, who are yet to be identified got burnt beyond recognition in the fire.

“The corpses have been evacuated to Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Morgue, Yaba for autopsy,” he said.

The Police Spokesperson said that the cause of the fire and value of the property destroyed are yet unknown.

He added that investigation is in progress.
