Lawyer and Rights Activist, Deji Adeyanju has made a u-turn by apologising and retracting his defamatory statement against Umar Damagun, the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary of PDP.
Didactic Information Hut recalls that Adeyanju had been threatened with a legal case for defaming Damagun and Anyanwu.
In a letter by their counsel, Johnson Usman, SAN, Adeyanju was asked to retract the defamation statements and tender apology in national dailies and other social media platforms to avert the looming legal tussle.
But on Friday, Adeyanju, through his lawyer, Zainab Otega, retracted his earlier defamation statements and apologized to the two PDP chieftains.
Some Nigerians have described the apology has humbling while others said it’s an act of cowardice.
