First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Limited, one of the leading financial services institutions in Nigeria with subsidiaries that are market leaders in their respective segments is recruiting to fill the position of a Compliance and Control Officer in Marina, Lagos.
Job Description
- Conduct periodic reviews of business processes to ensure alignment with company policies.
- Monitor transactions, client engagements, and records to detect and escalate non-compliance issues.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and recommend improvements.
- Maintain a risk register and ensure timely follow-up on identified risks and audit findings.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to local regulations (e.g., SEC, CBN, and other applicable laws)
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of compliance activities and control procedures.
- Prepare periodic compliance and risk management reports for senior management and the board of directors
- Report any breaches, suspicious activities, or risk events promptly to the appropriate authorities.
- Coordinate with external auditors and ensure timely resolution of issues raised.
- Assist in drafting and updating compliance policies and internal procedures.
- Ensure all employees understand their compliance obligations through regular training and communication.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, CISA, or CAMS) are an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., SEC, CBN).
- Excellent understanding of compliance principles, AML/KYC guidelines, and corporate governance.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify risks and propose effective controls.
- 6 – 8 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or internal control roles, preferably in financial services.
- Knowledge of capital markets is highly desirable.
