BREAKING: Respite For Peter Obi As Supreme Court Sacks Abure As LP Chairman

On Friday, the Supreme Court dismissed Julius Abure from his position as the National Chairman of the Labour Party.
In a unanimous ruling, a five-member panel of the Supreme Court overturned the Court of Appeal’s decision in Abuja, which had affirmed Abure’s status as the party’s national chairman.
The Supreme Court determined that the appellate court did not have the authority to issue such a ruling, as the core issue pertained to the internal governance of the party.
The court underscored that leadership matters within a political party are considered internal issues, beyond the reach of judicial intervention.
Additionally, the Supreme Court acknowledged that the appeal submitted by Senator Esther Usman and another party member was granted, as it was deemed valid.
The court further noted that, according to the evidence presented, Abure’s term had already concluded. As a result, it rejected the cross-appeal brought forth by the faction of the Labour Party supporting Abure.
Further details will be provided shortly.
