Prominent Nigerian billionaire and philanthropist, Folorunso Alakija, has allegedly become blind following a health crisis that arose from a near aviation incident, according to sources affiliated with her medical team.
The 73-year-old founder and Executive Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil was reportedly traveling with her husband, Modupe Alakija, when the event led to a sudden increase in her blood pressure, which ultimately impacted her eyesight.
Despite attempts to address the situation, her condition is said to have deteriorated to the point of complete vision loss.
Sources indicate that rather than pursuing extensive medical intervention, Alakija has turned to her faith, concentrating on the growth of her religious ministry.
“She experienced a near aviation incident with her husband on board, which caused her blood pressure to rise sharply, affecting her eyesight,” one source disclosed.
“She has been experiencing vision problems, but instead of seeking treatment, she opted to establish a church to assist others.
“Now, she is unable to see.”
She established the Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International, which evolved from a small gathering in her residence in 2004 into a fully developed religious organization.
