APC Wins Cross River, Nasarawa States LG Elections

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River and Nasarawa States have won the local government elections which took place last Saturday.
In Cross River State, the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) says the APC won all 18 chairmanship and 196 Councillorship seats .
CROSIEC Chairman, Dr Ekong Boco, who announced the results at the commission’s office in Calabar on Sunday, called on the elected chairmen and councillors to be magnanimous in victory and also give priority to the development of their local governments.
Boco also presented certificates of return to the winners.
Similarly in Nasarawa State, Mr Ayuba Wandai, who heads the State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) declared the 13 APC chairmanship candidates as winners in the local government election in the state.
Mr Ayuba Wandai, announced the results on Sunday at the commission’s office in Lafia.
Wandai also announced that the councillorship candidates of APC won in the 140 electoral wards out of 147 while candidates of opposition parties won seven councillorship seats.
Specifically, Wandai declared that the candidates of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) won one seat in Akwanga, four in Nassarawa-Eggon, and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) won two in Doma Local Government.
He further stated that nine political parties participated in the local government elections.
