Striker Victor Osimhen of the Super Eagles has reportedly come to an agreement with Manchester United regarding personal terms in anticipation of a possible summer transfer, as stated by Turkish journalist Serdar Çelikler.

“Victor Osimhen has reached an agreement with Manchester United. However, the club’s side of the situation still needs to be addressed,” Çelikler mentioned during a podcast discussion.

The Nigerian international, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray, has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 29 goals and providing six assists in 34 matches across all competitions.

Manchester United’s primary objective in the transfer market is to secure a top striker, especially given Rasmus Hojlund’s disappointing performance this season, where he has only managed three goals in the Premier League. New head coach Ruben Amorim is believed to be keen on parting ways with the underperforming forward this summer.

While personal terms appear to be settled, discussions between United and Napoli regarding the transfer fee are still in progress. Osimhen has a release clause set at €75 million (£63 million), but reports indicate that the Serie A club may be willing to offer a discount to the 20-time English league champions.

Juventus has also shown long-term interest in the Nigerian forward; however, Napoli is not inclined to sell to a direct competitor, which enhances United’s position in the pursuit.

Ultimately, United’s prospects of acquiring the prolific striker may hinge on their performance in the Europa League, as Osimhen is reportedly eager to participate in Champions League football next season. The Red Devils have also prepared backup options, including Liam Delap and Jean-Philippe Mateta, should the deal not materialize.

Earlier, Turkish journalist Ali Naci Küçük disclosed that the Premier League club has proposed a contract to Osimhen worth £660,000 per week before tax, which would make him the highest-paid player at Old Trafford.

Küçük stated, “There is a strong likelihood that Osimhen will part ways with Galatasaray, although no decision has been reached at this time. Both Juventus and Manchester United have expressed a clear interest in acquiring Osimhen, with their offer amounting to a net €20 million (£660,000 per week).”

Galatasaray, where Osimhen is currently on loan, is keen to keep him but may struggle to fulfill his financial expectations, as reports indicate that the striker is seeking €15 million from the Turkish club.

Galatasaray’s vice-president, Ibrahim Hatipoglu, recently remarked, “Osimhen’s comments do not necessarily indicate that he will depart. He mentioned that Galatasaray will always hold a special place in his heart, even in the worst-case scenario of leaving, but he did not confirm any intention to leave. We hope he will continue with us.”

When asked about his future last week, Osimhen was noncommittal, stating, “There are always rumors surrounding me, of course. However, I prefer to focus on the present. I am currently enjoying my time here, both with the club and in my life.”

The Nigerian forward joined Galatasaray on loan at the beginning of the season and has had an outstanding performance in Turkey, with the Istanbul club covering €6 million of his €10-11 million net annual salary, while Napoli pays the remainder.
