Nigeria Police Force Says SARS Has Not Returned

The Nigeria Police Force has denied rumors going about that the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has returned under a reformed set of rules.
In a statement titled “Disclaimer: SARS Remains Dissolved,” issued in Abuja on Monday, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Muyiwa Adejobi insisted that SARS, disbanded on October 11, 2020, remains permanently dissolved.
He also clarified: “The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is not back in operation. The recent information regarding SARS reformation and rules of engagement should be treated with caution.”
Calling on Nigerians to verify information from credible sources, ACP Adejobi said: “To ensure receiving accurate and reliable updates, citizens are advised to follow the official handles of the Nigeria Police Force on social media: @PoliceNG on X, @ngpolice on Facebook, and @nigeriapoliceforce on Instagram.”
He cfurther stressed the importance of public awareness saying: “Your safety and awareness are paramount; stay informed and vigilant.”
