Nigerian passport holders can travel to 45 countries around the world without a visa. But of these 45 countries, 27 countries allow visa-free entry, while others require visa-on-arrival or electronic travel authorization (eTA).

Different countries have different entry requirements, making international travel easier for Nigerians, and this latest information, obtained from Visaindex, underscores the growing opportunities for Nigerian citizens.

With access to countries on different continents, Nigerians can travel with less red tape for tourism, business, or family visits.

The Gambia

In 2019, The Gambia declared a visa-free zone for all African travelers. The policy extends to visitors from Commonwealth countries, the European Union, and even some Baltic countries. This openness has significantly boosted tourism and trade in the West African country.

Benin

Inspired by Rwanda’s openness, President Patrice Talon announced that in 2019, Benin will eliminate visa restrictions for all Africans. This decision strengthens Benin’s position as a commercial and travel hub in West Africa.

Kenya

In October 2023, Kenyan President William Ruto declared that Kenya would eliminate visa restrictions for all African travelers by the end of the year.

The goal? To enhance trade, strengthen economic ties, and position Kenya as a leader in interconnected Africa.

Rwanda

In November 2023, Rwanda announced a visa-free entry policy for all African citizens.

President Paul Kagame emphasized that any African citizen can now travel to Rwanda without paying fees, enhancing Rwanda’s reputation as a top African tourist destination.

Ghana

Ghana recently joined the ranks of visa-free African countries, opening its doors to travelers from across the continent.

This decision is in line with Ghana’s vision of becoming a major center for trade, investment, and tourism in West Africa. The move is expected to attract business professionals, entrepreneurs, and tourists and strengthen Ghana’s economic position.
