Hon Amobi Ogah, the member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, has told his constituents that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is interested in creating a new State from the region.

Hon Ogah, who disclosed this during the weekend while addressing his constituents, said that an additional State would go a long way in addressing the marginalization of the South East and propel development.

Didactic Information Hut recalls that the motion for Etiti State creation sponsored by Hon Ogah has already passed a second reading at the House of Representatives.

He said his colleagues from the South East were united in their support for the creation of the proposed new State.

“The good news is that Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, sincerely wants to create an additional state for the South East so we can be at par with other zones.

“When he said he would create the South East Development Commission, we thought it was a joke but today, we have seen it’s a reality,” the lawmaker stated.

Hon Ogah further acknowledged that although Igbo speaking people of Delta State extraction were pushing for Anioma State, Etiti State which he is championing would reduce tension in the zone.

According to Him, Nigeria runs a government of “sharing formula where regions with more States and States with more local governments get bigger chunk of the shared national revenue, expressing shock that the House of Representatives members from two North West States outnumber the entire South East Reps.

The Bishop of Okigwe Methodist Diocese, Bishop Livinus Bereonwu Onugha and the former Vice President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr Dozie Kingsley and other speakers in their separate responses lent their support for the proposed Etiti State.
